TGVS series for the non-drive end of motors with narrow outside clearance



Axially driven system with 24/7 performance for 10 years at 1800rpm prior to needing a simple brush change that can be completed on the fly. Field installable with handheld tools and no need to uncouple equipment.



Available for motors between 1hp and 300hp,143T-449T frame sizes and in all frame enclosures. Also available for IEC motors. All SGSTM products are CE certified for the European Union.





SGSTM TGVS Series installed onto the non-drive end of a WEG, 3hp, ODP motor. The system is axially driven with its brush easily accessible while the motor is running. Infrequent brush checks or a change can be completed in just a few minutes. Like all SGSTM products, materials used are robust, industrial grade and corrosion resistant and are a must if long-term performance is required.



TGVS Series application note:



The patented SGS™ TGVS Series non-drive end shaft grounding system was developed specifically for applications with narrow outside axial clearance. Have a motor where the non-drive end is butted up against an obstruction? The TGVS will likely fit between the motor and obstruction. The TGVS requires only 1.0 inch outside axial clearance while still allowing access to the brush for infrequent brush maintenance. Maintenance can be done while the motor is in operation a unique feature of SGS™ non-drive end shaft grounding systems.
The axial distance between the end of the non-drive end shaft and the outside of the fan cover/end bell must be determined to within 1/8 to 1/16" accuracy.


A 1.0 inch diameter hole is needed in the fan cover/end bell to gain access to the non-drive end shaft. The end of the non-drive end shaft must not have a hole to allow for a 1/4 x 20 attachment bolt. If a hole already exists, then the bolt hole diameter, depth and TPI must be determined for custom adaptation.

As with all SGS shaft grounding systems, the TGVS is field installable with handheld tools. Given tight outside axial clearance this system is designed for, the motor will likely need to be uncoupled to gain access to the non-drive end.

Dirty environment? No problem. The TGVS body is fully sealed. Its brush running surface is also fully sealed and will maintain a clean path of least resistance for the long-term.



Long-term performance is about achieving and MAINTAINING shaft voltages below 3v. SGS devices not only achieve this out of the box, but it's the only device that can actually maintain out-of-box performance for the long-term. Most grounding devices slow down electrical bearing damage, but only SGS can truly eliminate it for the long-term.
